The Adamawa State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has taken a significant step towards addressing the welfare of retirees by inaugurating an Adhoc Committee on the payment of three billion naira gratuity.
The inauguration, which was conducted by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Awwal D. Tukur, on behalf of Governor Fintiri, underscores the government’s commitment to the well-being of retired civil servants. Hon. Tukur emphasized the significance of the committee’s responsibility in overseeing the disbursement of the fund and clearing backlogs of gratuities.
Governor Fintiri’s concern for the retirees’ welfare prompted the release of the three billion naira fund, with an emphasis on timely execution to ensure that retirees receive their benefits without delay. The committee is tasked with overseeing the payment process, prioritizing the earliest retirees and ensuring a fair and sequential disbursement of gratuity.
In response to their appointment, Engineer Benson D. Jelani, Chairman of the Committee, expressed their determination to fulfill the assignment diligently. He assured that the committee would execute its duties with integrity and transparency, with any setbacks being incidental rather than intentional.
The committee comprises distinguished members, including the Auditor General, Accountant General, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, and representatives from relevant government agencies. Their collective expertise and commitment to service will facilitate the smooth execution of the gratuity payment process.
With a timeline of two weeks set for completion, the committee is poised to expedite the disbursement of gratuity to deserving retirees, providing them with the financial support they deserve after years of dedicated service to the state.
