Roles and Responsibilities of the Secretary to the State Government

Serving as the Secretary to the State Executive Council involves managing the administrative affairs of the state’s top decision-making body, coordinating activities of ministries and government agencies in implementing policies, liaising with federal government counterparts, overseeing the Cabinet Office, handling matters related to the conditions of service for political officeholders, addressing petitions and appeals to the governor, providing advice on political matters, managing security committees and intelligence, handling cabinet matters, analyzing and implementing policies, monitoring council decisions, and overseeing official publications and identification vehicle numbers.

Coordinating the activities of Ministries and Government agencies, particularly in the implementation, involves overseeing and managing the various tasks, projects, and policies carried out by these entities. The aim is to ensure effective execution, alignment with government objectives, and seamless collaboration among different sectors for the overall development and functioning of the state or region.

Acting as a liaison with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Secretaries to State Government entails serving as a bridge of communication and coordination between the state government and the federal government. This involves facilitating effective information exchange, collaboration on shared initiatives, and ensuring seamless cooperation between different levels of government for the benefit of the state.

Supervising the Cabinet Office involves overseeing and managing the operations and functions of the Cabinet Office within the state government. This includes ensuring that the Cabinet Office functions efficiently, coordinating its activities, and providing necessary support to enhance the decision-making processes of the state government.

Overseeing National Honours and Awards entails supervising the processes related to the conferral of national honors and recognition within the state. This responsibility involves managing the procedures, criteria, and ceremonies associated with granting national honors and awards to deserving individuals within the jurisdiction.

Servicing State Council Meetings involves providing administrative support and assistance in organizing, coordinating, and facilitating meetings of the State Council. This responsibility includes preparing agendas, recording minutes, and ensuring that necessary materials and information are available for effective decision-making during the council meetings.

Managing matters related to the conditions of service for Political Officer holders in the Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary branches entails overseeing issues such as remuneration, benefits, and other employment-related concerns for individuals holding political offices in these branches of government.

Managing petitions and appeals to the Governor from non-Public Officers involves overseeing the process of addressing and responding to requests, concerns, or appeals submitted by individuals who are not public officials.

Providing advice to the Executive Governor on Political Matters involves offering guidance and recommendations to the governor on various political issues, strategies, and decisions.

Supervising the Adamawa State Security Committee and Adamawa State Security Intelligence involves managing and coordinating security-related initiatives and intelligence operations within the state to safeguard the well-being of its residents.
