Adamawa State Establishes Committee For Federal Government Dry Season Farming Scheme

The Adamawa State government has taken a significant step towards promoting agricultural growth by inaugurating a committee to oversee the implementation of the National Agricultural Growth Scheme and Agro-Pocket Program (NAGS-APP) in the state. The committee, inaugurated by Barrister Awwal D Tukur, the Secretary to the State Government representing Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, aims to facilitate the successful execution of the federal government’s initiative to promote dry season farming.

The NAGS-APP program, a federal government initiative, seeks to bolster dry season farming activities across the nation, including Adamawa State. The newly established committee is tasked with coordinating and monitoring the program’s implementation within the state.

Comprising representatives from various stakeholders, the committee includes officials from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), Adamawa State Government, River Basin Development Authority (RBDA), agricultural development projects, commodity associations, security agencies, financial institutions, and farmers’ associations.

Barrister Tukur, speaking on behalf of Governor Fintiri, urged committee members to demonstrate steadfastness, proactiveness, and commitment in fulfilling their responsibilities. He emphasized the pivotal role of dry season farming in enhancing food security and boosting the income of residents in Adamawa State.

The establishment of this committee underscores the state government’s dedication to agricultural development and its appreciation of the federal government’s initiatives aimed at alleviating hardship and promoting economic prosperity among the people of Adamawa State.
